The Historic Jail Hotel Umeå

The Historic Jail Hotel is a one star hotel. Built in 1861, it originally served as county jail for Västerbotten. After 120 years of service, it was decommissioned in 1981. In 2007, it was restored and gently updated, and now has 23 single rooms, two double rooms, and two quadruple (4 bed) rooms. A conference room (max 40 people) is also available for meetings, parties, or other gatherings.

About us.
The hotel has plenty of showers and bathrooms on all levels. Guests also have access to free WiFi, TV, handicap-accessible elevators, and a large and well equipped kitchen. We are located close to (central Umeå), and the University Hospital of Umeå.
During the summer, people hold a variety of cultural performances, exhibitions, and other arrangements outside in the (former) prison yard. There’s a café in one of the annex buildings, which also serves lunch and dinner.
